Kindergartner Killed After Being Struck by Landscaping Truck While Playing Outside
A six-year-old boy was struck and killed by a landscaping truck while riding a scooter outside his home in LaGrange, Georgia, according to his family.
The child was identified as Macree Snelling, a kindergartner at Callaway Elementary School. His mother, Latouris Bell, said she was inside the house preparing for work when the accident occurred.
“It feels like an out-of-body experience. This is a nightmare,” Bell said.
The crash happened just outside the family’s home. Macree’s 9-year-old brother witnessed the incident and ran inside to alert his mother, according to the boy’s grandmother, Victoria Favors.
“He ran in to tell his mom that his brother had been hit,” Favors said. She questioned how the driver did not see the children playing. “I’m not angry — I just feel this could have been avoided.”
Troup County Schools confirmed Macree was a kindergartner and said counseling services will be available to students affected by the tragedy.
“He was full of energy and always on the go,” Favors said. “He had a way of making everyone laugh.”
Family members said Macree loved Spider-Man, and they are planning a Spider-Man-themed funeral in his honor.
“I don’t wish this on anybody,” Bell said.
The crash remains under investigation.
