NORTH AUGUSTA – Just before 8:00 Wednesday morning, the Aiken County Coroner’s Office responded to WellStar Medical College of Georgia for a pedestrian death.
The incident occurred on November 14th, at approximately 6:00 pm in the area of 197 Old Edgefield Road in North Augusta.
The victim has been identified as 43-year-old Tanya Ortega of North Augusta. Authorities say Ms. Ortega died due to complications of injuries sustained in the collision.
Investigators revealed that Ms. Ortega was a pedestrian walking northbound in the roadway on Old Edgefield Road when she was struck by a northbound 2021 Honda Sedan.
She was transported to WellStar MCG by Aiken County Emergency Medical Services where she succumbed to her injuries.
